Hello!

Hello Everyone!

I had been wanting to create a blog for a long time but finally got down to doing it only a few weeks ago. This is my first 'informal' post here
My blog will contain excerpts from my life [like my experiences, hobbies, people i meet, etc.] as well as my attempts at writing [like poems, short stories, etc.]
I have an active imagination and LOVE to dream. I day dream a lot and reveries come to me at absolutely any time, place or season! Hence the title Ecstatic Reveries. I had spent a lot of my time wondering what to name this blog and the one that I was most comfortable with, was this. [I had been thinking of the title Reveries Galore... do you think I should change it to that?]
A lot of what I post here will be part fact and part fiction although most of it will be fictional duly fueled by my active imagination and my never-ending reveries! :-D
I am a beginner and am open to all kinds of suggestions so please feel free to give me your feedback.
I hope u enjoy reading my blog! Take care and Cheers! :-)

Ecstasy

Do you know the pure ecstasy you feel,
When you know you are loved and cared for?

Well, I know it!

I have met someone,
So gentle, so kind;
So loving & caring,
That He is there with me through thick & thin.

He loves me so much,
But never pampers me too much!
He helps me look at the good in the bad
And rise above my problems & fears.

I seek His help when I'm afraid,
And rejoice with Him when I'm happy.
He is as gracious to me,
As He is to all humanity.

Well, if you're wondering who He is;
He is my Saviour, my Comforter,
Jehovah Jireh, my Provider!

New Life

Sitting by her window in the dead of night,
She looked up and saw the stars shining bright.

As she pondered on the happenings of the past few days,
She realized that she had changed in so many ways.

She started to learn that -
Life moves on,
And you gotta move along.

When you smile through your darkest hour,
It gives you more power,
To get through each day,
Even if you have not much to say.

It is pointless to waste time,
On something although so sublime,
'Cause it does nothing but break you,
And fill your heart with more and more rue.

Sometimes, the hurt may be too much to bear,
When you feel that there is no one to care.

But, there are so many people to meet,
And so many faces to greet;

There's so much to do,
And so much to say

And so little time for us,
To make a fuss
About the way things are
Or ought to be.

She also learnt that it is best,
To steer clear of the tensions in life,
And put away that knife.

And when the world is raining on you,
Just remember to start over anew.

'Cause, nothing could lift your spirits up
Better than a brand new start!

As she continued to sit there,
She thought to herself -

Oh, if only I could get that smile to radiate to the hearts of those around,
It would be such a joy to rise up to a brand new world,

So colourful, so bright,
That even as the birds chirp,
They rejoice the new beginning of a new life. :)

Authenticity in a park

Everybody looks forward to Summer Vacations - the time of the year when they get to meet cousins and friends and have fun, fun and lots of FUN!
Unfortunately for me, my Summer Vacation this time started out very boring. For nearly two whole weeks I had been dying to do something worthwhile.  This summer, more than anything else, i wanted to engage myself in doing something interesting or to have somebody for company. But, as a streak of bad luck, it so happens that there are absolutely no youngsters who live in my colony or the next, or the next as well! What does that lead to? - Sheer Boredom!
I was about to give up on trying to do something with my free time, when one day, a friend of mine from college asked me if I'd like to join her every evening while she goes for a walk at a nearby park. I was thrilled at the idea of having somebody for company everyday while burning some calories in the process! ;)
On the second day of our 'Daily Walk', i entered the park, looked around for my friend, and not finding her, decided to take a few rounds around the park while waiting for her. The sights i saw were everyday sights... the kind we usually ignore because they're so common. But yet, they refuse to erase themselves from my memory even to this day.
The combination of sounds that could be heard, felt like a rhythm to my ears. The buzz of human activity, the rustle of the leaves, the sound of water gushing out of a water pipe as a gardener watered the garden, the birds chirping above, *tuk-tuk-tuk* the sound of a cock against badminton rackets, *crunch-crunch-crunch* the sound of gravel under shoes...
As i took my first round around the park, i saw people of all ages playing, laughing and talking. I saw little kids sliding down the Slide into a pile of sand, or some of them playing Kho-Kho and Out-Out. On the other hand, there were the parents of these kids - the moms, either sitting around and talking or trying to lose some calories and there were the dads who pulled out their badminton rackets and geared up for a game of badminton. A few older kids could also be seen playing badminton and other games.
People of different ages were spread out all over the lawn and different parts of the park, enjoying the cool evening breeze after a hot summer day. At one corner of the park, a father and his two daughters could be seen playing badminton while the mother sprawled herself on the lawn and watched them play. On the other side of the park, a grandmother sat on a park bench and watched her grandchildren play a game of Out-Out. At one point she called out, "Biscuits or water, anyone?" and at once all the kids crowded around her, stuffing biscuits into their mouths and gulping down cool water even as it trickled down their T-shirts, leaving a mark.
Soon it was dusk and just as i was about to leave, my friend called up and said she was on her way. So i sat down on a park bench and waited for her. As it got dark, we sat and watched her little sister play on the Slide. We talked and listened to music as the cool breeze blew strands of hair in our faces. We finally parted with a promise to meet the next day.
All in all, I wasn't upset that my friend had kept me waiting for long. On the contrary, i was glad she was late because i was able to experience these beautiful sights - of people of different ages and sizes gathered at one small park, engaging themselves in various activities. It was amusing to observe everyone feeling at home in an open place, with a hundred strangers' eyes on them! Everyone felt comfortable as they walked, jogged, played or talked, not bothering for once about what they wore or how they looked. I wish that this authenticity will one day be openly displayed by all, wherever they are! This experience will definitely keep me coming back to this park for more! :)
